Google presents its own augmented reality (AR) video game in the style of Pokémon GO, but with a classic: Space Invaders. The legendary title celebrates 45 years since its launch and now returns in an augmented reality experience developed by the Mountain View company in collaboration with TAITO, the company that created the original game.
The new game, called SPACE INVADERS: World Defense, is available for iOS and Android devices. Invite the players to leave the house and revive the world of invaders as they destroy the alien threat with their spaceship cannon.
As it explains xatakain this AR version, space invaders appear in the sky and gamers must aim and shoot their ship to defeat them.
Unlike the original game, which was single player, this installment allows players to share their location-based score, allowing them to compete with other local players and find out who is the best in their area.
How does the game work?
SPACE INVADERS: World Defense uses the ARCore and Geospatial API, allowing it to adapt to the player’s immediate environment via the camera. The appearances of the invaders they depend on the local location, time and weather, which adds an element of realism and adaptability to the game.
Delivery is now available for free download on the App Store and Google Play Store. The minimum requirements are Android 11 for Android devices and iOS 16 for Apple devices. It is important to note that the game takes up approximately 250 MB of storage space.
