Also restart your console and make sure it is properly connected to the internet. For example, you can go back to your account settings and settings to Find your WiFi network in the list of wireless networks. We can also check that the cable is correctly connected to both parts. Or try another cable to make sure the error is not here, for example.
PlayStation Network not working?
The best way to know if the error is global or ours is to go to the status page that counts the Sony company. Here we can easily solve the doubt thanks to the fact that PlayStation has a website where it shows you, at all times and in real time, if any of its services is temporarily down or if everyone is active and available. This will allow us to check if it is normal that the Network does not work for us because it does not work for anyone or it will allow us to know if it is our error that we must solve individually because the crash is global and everyone else works correctly.
How? Checking it is very easy. We just have to go to the website status.playstation.com and here we will see the list of all available services:
- Account management
- Games and social networks
- PlayStation Now
- PlayStation Video
- PlayStation Store
Next to each of the services we will see a circle that works as a traffic light and that will be in green if everything is correct but it will be shown in red if something is not going well. At the top we will find, as you can see, the summary: at the time of the query there are no errors and the web shows the message “All services are active.”
Another useful option when it comes to knowing if the service is down is to consult specific pages of cuts and falls such as Downdetector that allows us to see the Issue notifications sent in the last 24 hours by users around the world. We can see a timeline with reported PSN problems but also a heat map, a map of bugs and reported problems that will tell us where the error or problem is occurring. It may only be in a specific region and therefore it does not affect everyone equally, for example. This website will serve as a complement to the official one to know if something happens.
Solutions: Fix and Connect
Fix and Connect is a PlayStation service that allows us to follow a tutorial to find a solution to the problem we are having, whatever it may be. When we go to the website, it gives us a choice between three options or three most common types of problems:
- My PS4 or PS5 won’t connect to the internet
- I can’t log in to PSN
- My online experience is bad
We must choose the one that interests us. In this case, we can choose the first one to know if PlayStation Network does not work or this has nothing to do with the reason why we cannot connect to the Internet from the PS4 or PS5. At that moment, a message will appear stating “First of all, let’s check the current status of the PSN service”. You will see a message that tells you if everything is working correctly or not. If there is a failure it will appear here indicated and we will only have to wait for it to work again soon and be patient. If there is no fault, we can continue looking for possible problems or solutions and we can touch the button “Continue”In the PlayStation bug wizard.
You will then have to answer a series of questions such as whether or not it is the first time you connect, if there are other devices on the network or in what way are you trying to connect the console to the Internet (by cable or by network). go following the tutorial with all the possible options that Sony offers us to detect the error and solve it as quickly as possible.
Login problems
If what is not working is not the Internet but we simply cannot log into the PlayStation Network, we can follow a series of basic steps to check that everything is correct. For example, we check that the username and password are correct, that we know our login ID, that there are no intruders or another person using it …
Forgotten password
If you have forgotten your password, the steps to reset it are very simple
- Go to the Account Management page
- Choose the option: Problems logging in?
- Tap on “Reset your password”
- Enter your login ID or email address
- You will receive an email with a link
- Click on the link and fill in the information
- Create a new, strong and different password
- Log in to PlayStation Network again with your ID and this password
Other problems
If the password does not work and you are sure you know it, we can check if we are using the correct email. Search your inboxes, spam or trash if you have any email from PSN to make sure that this is the address that we really have linked to this service and that we are entering it correctly, for example.
Another problem is that someone may be accessing your account without permission and it is recommended that you contact PSN customer service for help.
Contact
If none of the above works, we can access the PlayStation support service. We go to the support website and it will give us six different options on the topic that concerns us: account and security, PS store and refunds, system and hardware, subscriptions, games and connectivity. We choose the first: “Account and security” and it will show us other available options from which we can choose to attend to us:
- Reset password and recover account
- Locks and suspensions
- Activation and deactivation of devices
- Change ID online and other questions about the account
- Unauthorized use of email address
Whichever you choose, you will see a series of possible solutions, but if they do not help you, you can contact PlayStation directly. You can call 911 147 422 from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Spanish peninsular time.
Or you can access the Sony chatbot where you can go answering questions.
In addition, Sony has the profile @AskPlaystation, a Twitter account with official support in English, Spanish and Portuguese. It is an account designed for America but you can contact to ask for help or read the possible solutions to other users.
