The world of storage solutions has evolved by leaps and bounds in recent years. While commercial SSDs are popular among everyday users, there are market segments that require specialized storage solutions.
Solidigmaa leading storage technology company, has taken a bold step by introducing its latest creation: the SSD D7-P5810. These SSD drives excel in durability and performance, making them an ideal solution for high-performance applications and write-intensive workloads.
One of the most notable features of these units is their use of 144-layer NAND Flash memories, which are of the TLC (Triple-Level Cell) type but simulate being SLC (Single-Level Cell). While SLC memories store only 1 bit per cell and are highly durable, they have a limited capacity.
As it explains Hard ZoneSolidigma has developed what they call “storage class memory” (SCM)specifically designed to support write-intensive workloads.
Incredible resistance
In terms of endurance, Solidigm D7-P5810 drives can withstand up to 50 full random write cycles per day and up to 65 sequential write cycles per day. These drives will be available in 800GB and 1.6TB capacities, allowing for an impressive daily throughput of 52TB and 117TB respectively.
With a 15mm thick U.2 form factor and PCIe 4.0 x4 interface, these drives achieve sequential read speeds of up to 6,400 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 4,000 MB/s.
What makes these units even more impressive is their outstanding durability. While commercial SSDs typically average 400-500 TBW (terabytes written) over their entire lifespan, Solidigm D7-P5810 drives are designed to exceed these cycles in a matter of days.
Solidigm specifies that these drives have a mean time between failures of 2 million hours, which is remarkably high. Additionally, they have been established to have a maximum lifespan of 73 PBW (approximately 73,000 TBW), which is truly amazing. To back up its quality, Solidigm offers a solid 5-year warranty.
