The Solana network suffered a slowdown in the production of blocks on February 25 after the software update of the validators. The incident caused transaction outages and led validators to downgrade the software in an attempt to restore network performance.
The technical issue started at around 06:00 AM (UTC), which prompted validators to switch to version 1.13 to try to reset transactions on the network. However, the downgrade was not enough to restore normal operation of Solana, forcing the decision to restart the network with version 1.13.6.

The Solana network is currently rebooting after an issue during the upgrade from version 1.13 to 1.14 that slowed down the completion of blocks.
Once the validators with 80% participation have restarted, the network will resume.
You can follow the progress of the reset at the link.
“The network experienced a significant slowdown in block production that coincided with a validator software update. Engineers are still conducting a root cause analysis,” Solana’s compass website noted.
The issue is related to the upgrade from 1.13 to 1.14, which slowed down the completion of blocks. The Solana network is currently being restartedand to resume operations, 80% of active online participation is necessary:
“As more validators complete their reset, this number will increase based on how much stake they have delegated – this means that larger validators like CEX have a disproportionate impact on reset times.”
Solana validators discussed a solution to the issue in the hours after the incident. Infrastructure provider Chorus One noted in a tweet that the incident “demonstrated how genuinely decentralized the network is”. Chorus One continued:
“Without all these discussions, we would have been back up and running in an hour. However, every decision made along the way—if to downgrade, if to restart, when to go from the downgrade to the restart approach—is debate. There are votes. We ended up taking 8-10 hours to recover, instead of 1″.
Solana is an open source layer 1 blockchain. SA third-generation network architecture is designed to facilitate smart contracts and the creation of decentralized applications (DApp). The Solana blockchain was launched during the ICO boom of 2017. The project’s internal testnet (testnet) launched in 2018, followed by several testnet phases before the mainnet was officially launched in 2020.
