Finding a tape that gives good scares is very complicated; but if you are looking for a good horror movie, Smile seems to be one of the best options of the year. The first trailer drew attention for its interesting premise and some disturbing visuals. Here we tell you all the details you should know about its next premiere.
What is it about Smile?
After witnessing a traumatic and bizarre incident involving one of her patients, Dr. Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon) begins experiencing terrifying events for which she finds no explanation. As overwhelming terror begins to take over her life, Rose must confront her haunting past in order to survive and escape her terrifying new reality.
The cast and other curiosities
Smile stars Sosie Bacon (13 Reasons Why), Jesse T Usher (TheBoys), Rob Morgan (stranger things), Kyle Gallner (scream) and Caitlin Stasey (I Frankenstein).
The film is based on the horror short film Laura Hasn´t Sleptwhich was premiered in 2020 during the festival South by Southwest. The reception was extremely positive on the part of spectators and jury, so much so that it obtained a special recognition within the category Midnight Short.
After the success and comments obtained, Paramount bought the rights to the story and it was decided to turn it into a feature film. The director of the original short, Parker Finn, also wrote and directed the film. Smile. If the tape maintains the same quality of the original material, we could be facing one of the most important horror movies of the year.
The marketing campaign for Smile started a few weeks ago. In the North American projections of Top Gun: Maverick Y Crimes of the Future, a mysterious projected teaser with an intriguing phrase (“What makes you smile?”) and brief glimpses of people with disturbing smiles. Viewers were intrigued and discussed the origin of the video on various forums.
Now that Paramount has released the full trailer, we can witness a series of rather rare images. In addition, the film seems to have an influence on a classic Japanese horror film (Ringu), especially for that detail of an entity that kills its victims every certain number of days.
