Mobile Americatelecommunication company Carlos Slim Y Telxius announced the deployment of a new submarine cable to link Guatemala Y USA with the possibility of connecting it in Mexico.
This submarine cable, called AMX3 by America Movil and Tikal by Telxius, it will be the one with the highest capacity that will connect Puerto Barrios (Guatemala) with Boca Raton
(EU), with a possible additional mooring in Cancún (Mexico)”, says the Telxius press release.

With an estimated initial capacity of 190 Tbps, the cable will cover a key route in the Caribbean with “the highest levels of service, reliability and security.” The supply contract is already in force with ASN and includes options to increase capacity and incorporate other destinations.
This is a new step to build the most extensive submarine network in the Americas, which delivers capacity through more than 197,000 km of submarine cables throughout the region”, adds América Movil.
It currently has the AMX-1 cable, which extends 18,300 km and connects the United States with Central and South America with 13 mooring points and also the South Pacific submarine cable.which stretches 7,300 km along the Latin American Pacific coast, connecting Guatemala, Ecuador, Peru and Chile with five mooring points.
Both systems provide international connectivity to all its subsidiaries in these geographical areas. In total, Telxius will have an 82,000 kilometer submarine cable network designed to connect the main digital data hubs on both sides of the Atlantic.
