After doing an overview of the best characters and the different classes (tank, dps and support) of Overwatch 2, it’s time to focus on each of the characters. The first to have a guide is D.Vathe playful, gamer heroine who has captured the hearts of hundreds of fans since the release of Overwatch.
D.Va in Overwatch 2: “this is on easy mode“
- Name: Hana Song aka D.Va.
- origins: He was a professional gamer, and later put his skills to the service of South Korea by piloting a mech. She and other pilots, known as the MEKA squadron, stood up to the invading gwishin, a mechanical threat from the deep sea.
- Birthplace: Busan, South Korea.
- Class: Tank.
D.Va’s abilities: attack and mobility.
D.Va belongs to the tank class. It has superior life and resistance to DPS and Support characters, and offensive and defensive abilities that allow you to be in the forefront at all times. However, it is not an ordinary tank.
In all classes there are several subclasses. D. Va is a further tank subclass individual Y mobility-focused. His shield abilities are individual, so he owes the mech’s own body as a barrier between opponents and his allies.
His mobility has allowed him to Overwatch 2 play more independently of the team (leaving the defense to the other tank) by flanking and ambushing. Now that there is only one tank, D.Va she must be more conservative and adapt her skills to serve the team a little more.
- fusion cannons: Two short-range, high-rate, high-dispersion rotary autocannons.
- boosters: Boosters that allow you to fly and move quickly for a limited time.
- defense matrix: Blocks the projectiles that take you from the front area.
- Micro Missiles (Ultimate Ability): volley of explosive missiles that hit and deal area damage.
- Self destruction: You are ejected from the MECHA and it explodes after a few seconds.
- ejection:D. Va automatically leaves the MECH when life drops to 0.
- light gun: An automatic pistol carried by D.Va herself.
- mecca: You request the MECH again when the ultimate ability is refilled while you are without it.
Tips and tricks for playing with D.Va
As I’ve discussed in every Overwatch 2 guide, things have changed when it comes to tanks. Their number has been reduced from two to one per match, putting the entire responsibility of covering the team on one hero.
If you played D.Va in Overwatch and plan to play her in Overwatch 2, you should know that there should be little to no frontline escapades. You are the only thing covers the team against enemy attacks, especially the healer.
D.Va’s great mobility allows her to quickly reach the point of grab or push and/or the zone of conflict. His weapons and shields cover enough for allies to advance. Also, he is the only character that has a second opportunity when it is removed. Short of another tank, you’ll likely die if your MECH is taken away.
- Use boosters to get there fast to conflict zones or take points.
- Boosters are also used to make way for you in bottlenecks. Hit enemies to knock them back and have your allies follow you as they shoot.
- Combine the boosters + self destruct to launch the MECHA towards enemies and eliminate several at the same time.
- Learn to sandwich between fusion cannons and defense array. Less experienced players will tend to focus their attention on you… a mistake that you must take advantage of to advance until they are within range of your cannons.
- The light gun of D. Va is a weapon to be reckoned with. Although the hero is very weak, the pistol does a lot of damage if you hit the head. Take advantage of your size and dps ability to slip through the enemy ranks and call in the MECH where they least expect it.
- Use the defense matrix against your main enemies: highly mobile dps that slip through enemy lanes, Reaper and Tracer. You can also avoid Cassidy’s ultimate. He doesn’t defend you against physical attacks, so watch out for Genji and other tanks like Reinhardt.
