Today the Silent Hill franchise is celebrating its anniversary, because Silent Hill 2 turns 20. The game has become, in these two decades, a true cult classic, one of the best survival horror games and, for many, the best game in the series. Silent Hill 2 leaves the plot of the first installment and introduces us to James Sunderland, a man haunted by the death of his wife Mary who arrives in Silent Hill after receiving a letter written by her once dead. Silent Hill 2 manages to improve and consecrate everything that was presented in Silent Hill, developing classic themes of the franchise such as guilt, repression and the obligation to face our worst fears.
Silent Hill 2 turns 20. When will the new installment of the saga come?
Despite fans celebrating Silent Hill 2 turning 20, at the moment there don’t seem to be any new moves from the brand for Konami. Some time ago it came to light that Bloober Team had partnered with Konami to develop a horror project. Project that many understand as a new Silent Hill, taking into account the studio’s experience in the genre and the participation of Akira Yamaoka, composer of the saga, in The Medium, the studio’s latest game. Rumors about its acquisition by a large distributor have also been running around networks and forums for some time, but to date, nothing has been confirmed.
While we wait for the saga to return at some point, remember that you have Silent Hill HD Collection available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S. Collection that will allow you to enjoy Silnt Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 and that you can buy at Xbox Store.
