For some time now, the idea has been rumored that SEGA would eliminate some games from its iconic Sonic franchise to make way for a new stage, and today it has become official. Several Sonic games will soon be removed from Xbox and other platforms, as the same games will come in remaster quality with an upcoming release.
Through Twitter, the Eurogamer journalist matthew reynoldshas shared an image from a press release from SEGA itself, indicating that several Sonic games will be removed from many platforms. Remember that these same titles will be remastered in the next Sonic Origins release.

Sonic Origins already has a release date
As we can see in the image, the games that will no longer be on our consoles available for purchase will be Sonic The Hedgehog Original, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic CD, which will be removed from the store on May 20, 2022. The movement that SEGA is making is understandable, since for the same games it will charge additional to have them in a remastered pack.
Interesting news coming from the company, which seeks to give a new air to one of its iconic sagas of all time such as Sonic. Now we just have to wait and see how the remasters of the classic games turn out, hoping that they have very good resolution and frames per second.
