The Outlook team never stops working on new features. We see some of them and others escape our sight. In this case the novelty was very evident and we have seen it without problem. The Outlook team wants to make it easier for us to configure our email on the smartphone by saving us a few steps with a QR code.
Set up your email on your smartphone just by reading a QR code
The latest solution available in Outlook is a small QR code at the top right of the app. in own title bar, which has more and more features, we will find this. this is so lonely a link to a pop-up window that will show us a QR code. When going to configure an Outlook account on our smartphone we can select the option to read a QR code and our smartphone will do all the work.
This makes it easy for many users to configure their smartphone in a matter of seconds through a QR code and speeds up the process. Unfortunately this functionality is only available for Microsoft 365 accounts and Microsoft accounts. It would be great if Microsoft had developed a QR for IMAP and POP accounts that are more complicated to configure from our smartphone.
At the moment, if we click on the QR code in an unsupported account will not perform any action versus the pop-up we see in the other case. This saves us time, but is limited to Microsoft accounts. We will see if in the future the Redmond giant offers this same function in the rest of the accounts.
