Breast cancer remains one of the diseases with the highest incidence and mortality worldwide. For this reason, the month of October was designated to raise awareness among the population. Although due to the magnitude of the problem it is necessary to implement more actions. All this led to the emergence of September Rosa, a new campaign that seeks to promote timely detection through mammograms.
The disease remains uncontrolled
To put in context, the Breast cancer is one of the most common types of tumors in the world. During 2020 alone, around 2.2 million new cases and 685 thousand deaths were registered.
Now, in the case of Mexico, this neoplasm is considered the leading cause of death from cancer in women. Although it is increasingly presenting in younger women, the most affected are those aged between 50 and 59 years.
From all of the above, The Latin healthtech Mamotest started the Pink September campaign to take a step further and that more women can access services such as mammograms. However, it does not mean that they should only be taken into account in these two months, but rather that it is an everyday job.
Why are mammograms so important?
Different studies indicate that Performing a mammogram on a regular basis decreases mortality from breast cancer. With this in mind, Mamotest is the healthtech that is dedicated exclusively to defeating this disease. As it does? It accompanies thousands of women from awareness and universal access to diagnosis with high-quality images to follow-up with patients to ensure that they reach personalized treatment at an early stage and so that no woman feels alone.
The purpose of Mamotest is to change the health system in order to keep women healthy, through a humane, empathic accompaniment from start to finish. In this sense, it is vitally important to have a complete understanding of this condition.
With the above in mind, the healthtech developed a digital platform in which psycho-oncologists monitor each case for free. They take into account the clinical history, socioeconomic situation, results and treatments reported by patients to enhance health tools.
This dynamic allows users to obtain results in 24 hours and professional support to arrive at a personalized treatment and on time. When it comes to a case where the consultant cannot access treatment, the specialists are in charge of guiding her.
What is Mamotest?
The healthtech was founded by Argentine entrepreneur Guillermo Pepe, who set out to change the health system. The idea is to go from one that cares for the sick to one that maintains healthy patients.
In Mexico, the company works together with the Mexican Hospital Consortium in different locations in the country and with the IOC Foundation, who are also key allies in this campaign. Since January 2022, when they began their operations in our country, they have helped 18,000 women to get checked with a high-quality study at an affordable price.
