He explained that these data reflect the need for men go to the health services and request medical attentionin order to prevent diseases and avoid complications in case of detecting any in a timely manner.
He added that the male population should promote a culture of healthy livingbut it is also important that “we as an institution approach them in schools, in companies and carry out activities to promote health.”
In this sense, Medina Pérez pointed out that the Institute has comprehensive services of PreventIMSS. There, awareness is generated in this sector for the health self care and so that they go to medical attention, both for disease prevention or disease control.
Identify diseases early
He explained that there is an area of opportunity and a very big challenge with young men, because it is here where the early onset of diseases and timely treatment can be detected.
The coordinator of Medical Programs of the IMSS Family Medicine Division explained that if obesity prevention begins from childhood, it will have an impact on reducing diseases such as diabetes and hypertension.
He added that in adolescents healthy habits, promoting health and avoiding drug addictions such as alcoholism, drug addiction and smoking will result in a healthy life and will achieve their physical, emotional and mental well-being.
“The most important thing is to go first to the Social Security PrevenIMSS Modules, where comprehensive care, early and timely detection of diseases will be triggered. From there they are referred to the Family Medicine consultation so that timely treatment can be started and diagnostic complementation is carried out if required by the person requesting care”.
Dr. Eréndira Medina remarked that in men with some risk of suffering from diseases, it is important to adopt healthy lifestyles, because they are essential to trigger or not the appearance of chronic-degenerative diseases.
He added that it is important to identify risk factors in this population such as overweight, genetic burden of a disease such as diabetes or hypertension, including cardiovascular or cerebrovascular diseases, in order to promote self-care of health and visit the health service periodically.
The Social Security specialist said that within the PrevenIMSS program, healthy lifestyles are promoted both in men and in all sectors of the Institute’s user population.
