November 4 Powerball Results
What is the deadline to purchase Powerball tickets?
Sales cut-off hours vary by sales jurisdiction. Please check with your local lottery for more information.
Can I buy Powerball tickets online?
Some lotteries sell tickets powerball online, but the service is available only to residents of that jurisdiction. Ticket sales online or by mail across jurisdictional borders are restricted. Lotteries may refuse to pay prize money for tickets purchased on any website other than their own. If you have any questions, please contact your lottery.
Do you have to be a US citizen or resident to play Powerball?
You do not need to be a US citizen or resident to play. Players from jurisdictions where tickets are not sold powerball, whether in the United States or outside the country, when visiting a selling jurisdiction, may purchase tickets from a retailer licensed or authorized by the selling jurisdiction, if they meet the legal age requirement in the purchasing jurisdiction. Federal and jurisdictional income taxes may apply to any prize claimed.
How can I claim my prize?
Prizes must be claimed in the jurisdiction where the winning ticket was purchased. Generally, players can claim a prize of up to $600 at any authorized lottery retailer in the jurisdiction where they purchased the ticket. Prizes over $600 can be claimed at some lottery offices, depending on the amount, and also at lottery headquarters. If you have any questions, please contact your lottery administration.
How much time do I have to claim my prize?
Ticket expiration dates typically vary between 90 days and one year, depending on the jurisdiction of sale. The expiration date usually appears on the back of the bill. If the expiration date does not appear, check with your lottery.
What happens to unclaimed prizes?
Unclaimed prizes are retained by the lottery jurisdiction. If a Grand Prize is not claimed, money must be returned to all lotteries in proportion to their sales for the drawing. Lotteries then distribute the money, based on the laws of their own jurisdiction, to other lottery games or to the general fund of their jurisdiction, or otherwise as required by law.
Can Powerball winners remain anonymous?
Each jurisdiction has its own law regarding the anonymity of winners. Some jurisdictions are required by law to provide the winner’s name, city of residence, game won, and prize amount to any third party requesting the information. Some jurisdictions allow winners to claim a prize as a trust or other legal entity, thereby allowing some anonymity from public disclosure of their information. Check with your lottery to see if you need to take a photo of the winner and what their rules are about claiming prizes. Regardless of how a prize is claimed, the person who purchased the winning ticket must be known to the lottery so officials can confirm that you are eligible to play and to comply with other legal requirements.
