The launch of secret invasion on Disney+ has intensified the threat of the Skrulls in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The protagonists they distrust even their allieswith the doubt of whether a companion could be an infiltrated Skrull.
With information from screen rant, We explain how you can discover a Skrull in the next episodes of Secret Invasion and in other MCU productions.
They do not assume the characteristics of those they imitate
While Skrulls can transform into an exact match of the person they are impersonating, they cannot adopt the personality of their copied body. This means that it should be fairly easy to figure out who is a Skrull, as slight gestures would be harder to emulate. This is because a person’s personality is not a matter of his DNA. Skrulls can copy personality to some degree, as they can extract memories that would allow them to mimic speech patterns and physical routines.
Skrulls only copy short-term memories.
By transforming into the form of another living being, the Skrulls can replicate the recent memories of their copied body, allowing them to better integrate into society. Skrulls have also been shown to see memories further back in a person’s life, though they need to use advanced technology to extract these memories, as seen in the case of Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel and various human hosts in Secret Invasion. So there is one surefire way to identify if someone is a Skrull: interrogate them.
Cannot imitate superhuman gifts
In addition to being unable to imitate personality traits and distant memories, Skrulls are also unable to copy superhuman gifts, should they assume the form of a superhero or enhanced person. This would surely make it easier to determine who would be a Skrull if some of the MCU’s most notable heroes were to be replaced, as many of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes have very specific supernatural or superhuman powers that make them instantly recognizable.
Skrulls have innate enhanced abilities
While the Skrulls may not be able to copy superhuman abilities, they do have an impressive set of innate powers granted to them by their Skrull physiology. In addition to being able to shapeshift into any living being, Skrulls also possess a wide variety of enhanced powers thanks to their bodies not being carbon-based like humans.. Throughout their appearances, they have proven to be incredibly strong, and during intense fight scenes, they have proven to be durable and agile combatants.
They revert to their natural form when they are killed.
This is perhaps the most drastic way to determine if someone is a Skrull, but killing them certainly works, as the Skrulls revert to their natural green-skinned form when killed.. Unfortunately, if someone is suspected of being a Skrull and killed, but turns out to be actually human, this action could have dire consequences.
Krulls can be detected in the MCU
Skrull detectors have yet to be seen in the live-action MCU, but they’ve been confirmed to exist thanks to the Guardians of the Galaxy Prequel Infinite Comic and the Captain Marvel prequel novel, Captain Marvel: Starforce on the Rise. Skrull detectors can trace a unique piece of code in a Skrull’s DNA, determining whether or not that person is a Skrull.. These detectors were used by Kree warriors during the Kree-Skrull War, and were later sold by a black market dealer.
