The recent trailer for scream 6 filled the fans of the franchise with emotion, even though the tape will not feature Neve Campbell. The protagonist of the saga did not want to return to the new film before the alleged unfair payment that she was raised. This game left many followers devastated, and some even consider the possibility of not seeing scream 6 in the absence of the iconic Sidney Prescott.
In interview for Entertainment WeeklyThe directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyller Gillet they talked about the lack that Campbell did them. Initially, the script was raised with her in mind, but her departure caused the story to be worked on again. Either way, the duo say there is now an opportunity to get to know the new generation of survivors better.
“We love Neve, and we’re big fans of Sidney Prescott, but it felt like an opportunity to really get into this new group of characters. I think people will be really surprised and appreciative of how successfully this movie pulls it off,” says Gillet.
Undoubtedly, the absence of Neve Campbell will be one of the biggest obstacles of scream 6. Not only did the creative team have to manage without her, the public will have to be carried away by the charm of the new protagonists. Campbell became known as Sidney Prescott in 1996, when the first film of scream changed the rules regarding slashers. From there, the character became an icon of horror movies. Will the new characters have enough to make us not miss her?
“This movie has been in our lives for quite some time, but I think we’re still constantly amazed at how rich, interesting, and deep the relationship between the four of them is in this movie,” they concluded.
While Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillet are excited about the new movie and the cast’s chemistry, it will be the audience, as always, who decides how much the actress’s departure affected. scream 6, starring Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Courteney Cox, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding and Hayden Panettiere, will arrive in Mexico on March 9. Who will be the new Ghostface?
