The month of March is the month designated for the start of school classes throughout the country. Peru, that is, in the capital Lima and in the provinces. When does the 2024 school year start in the public sector?
As reported by the Ministry of Education, the school year for the public sector will begin next Monday, March 11, a favorable date for all levels, initial, primary and secondary, to return to their classrooms.
When does the 2024 school year start in the private sector?
The opposite happens in private schools, since they start as soon as the month of March begins. Some schools already opened their school year last Friday, March 1, while others will do so only this Monday, March 4, while another group will do the same this Wednesday, March 6.
What did the Minister of Education say about the 2024 school year?
Regarding the upcoming 2024 school year, the Minister of Education, Miriam Ponce, reported that the date of return to classes will not move, that is, it will be next Monday, March 11 and that only in Ica and Moquegua are they waiting to have an exact date due to the weather phenomena that afflict them.
“Several times they have asked us if the date is going to be changed, but the date remains the same and there are only two regions, Ica and Moquegua, which they will confirm later because we are waiting to see how the weather phenomena evolve in these regions”, he pointed.
Regarding the high temperatures that afflict Lima and the provinces, the minister also expressed concern and pointed out that guidelines have been given to educational institutions.
“We will send a regulation, giving recommendations for all educational institutions and directors, who, concerned about students, take into account that they should avoid some activities such as training in the heat. Activities that have a lot of time outdoors, I think there are spaces in some institutions and in others we have to adapt them”, he added.
How many students are there in public schools?
Currently the number of students who belong to public schools in Peru, that is, those managed by the government in power, is more than six and a half million students.
