Scarlet Nexus was one of the so-called “sleepers” of 2021
Announced in 2020 during a Microsoft event to mark the launch of Xbox Series X | S, Scarlet Nexus became one of the most amazing games of 2021 for its action RPG facet and its hack and slash type combat, added to a more than interesting futuristic fantasy story and the usual manganime aesthetic of Bandai Namco games. This unexpected success could green light a new installment in the series, although it would be a “more mature” sequelassures its creator.
“If there is a sequel, I would personally like use the theme of superpowers in other areas in addition to the battles”, assured Kenji Anabuki in a recent interview with reverse. “The world and story settings could potentially be created to suit an even more mature audienceexploring themes such as the dangers of having or using superpowers.”
One of the most criticized aspects of Scarlet Nexus was the large number of conversations and side quests related to the members of the team during the moments of rest between chapter and chapter. Too “Japanese” and childish for most Western audiences. Criticism was also directed at the in-game cut-scenes that played out as a slideshowanother of the things to change in a possible sequel.
“I still want to make them unique like Scarlet Nexus, as long as I can give our fans the most satisfying gaming experience”, assured Anabuki, who also plans a improvement in accessibility and quality of life. “I have decided that paying more attention to industry trends and the preferences of newer users will definitely benefit the gaming experience.”
Finally, Anabuki has had good words for Xbox Game Pass, despite only arriving on the service a few months after its launch. “It has definitely given Scarlet Nexus a boost in publicity and popularity”, he explained. “He has also contributed greatly to the visibility and sales of downloadable content”.
Scarlet Nexus is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC since last summer 2021. Check out our Scarlet Nexus review for all the details.
