We will learn more details about the life of Jigsaw/John Kramer in Saw. The new chapter in the story of the character played by Tobin Bell will focus more on the experiences of the tormented murderer, and not so much on the experiences of his victims.
This was confirmed by director Kevin Greutert in an interview with empire, where he also assured that the film will have more appearances by Kramer than all the other installments of the saga. This is what he said:
“They tried to make the last Saw movie without Tobin and, for me, that was a challenging movie.”
Furthermore, the director added the following regarding the focus of the narrative: “Kramer is the center of the story.”
From what can be deduced from Greutert’s recent statements, this film will be diametrically different from the rest of the franchise. As an example, what he commented a few weeks ago regarding the change in the traps that will be used in fiction.

Now, he talked about how the tone of the film will be much more realistic:
«This film has gone back to a somewhat more realistic level. Maybe not to Saw I-level simplicity, but close. The more the public can get the sense that a smart engineer – which he is – could figure out what to do with these parts and make them work, the better.”
And you may be wondering: How will Jigsaw/John Kramer return in Saw X If he died in the third part? What happens is that this will be a kind of prequel set between the first and the second. It is about a trip to Mexico in which the protagonist will seek treatment for his terminal cancer:
“It’s more of an emotional journey that you take with John Kramer, and less of a slaughterhouse that you experience from the victims’ point of view. Obviously there will be people who can’t stand it, but I think it has a good chance of attracting people beyond gore fans.
Saw It premieres next September 28 in Mexico.
