Santander bank hired a law firm that is investigating an internal complaint that a group of company employees from around the world attended a striptease club in London.
It was after a day of bank meetings in the capital of England and as part of a business trip that was based in this city of Great Britain.
It is also investigated if the older employees pressured the younger ones to go to the striptease club in question.
The news, which was confirmed by Santander, was initially published by the London newspaper Financial Times.
The incident occurred in February 2022, after Santander’s Global Debt Capital Markets team will hold meetings at the UK headquarters, assures the Financial Times citing employees who were at the event.
What Santander said about the investigation of the visit to the “striptease” club
From the Santander bank they told the English media that the entity takes “very seriously issues related to the conduct of workers” and that they follow “highly rigorous processes to analyze the facts and make the appropriate decisions.”
In addition, they explained that the investigation and the measures taken are confidential, so they cannot and should not make any further statements.
The visit to the London striptease club and the fact that younger employees have been pressured to attend were part of the claims made by a whistleblower to Santander’s human resources department.
To analyze the situation externally, the bank hired the United States law firm Gibson Dunn, a studio that has been carrying out an internal investigation since April to establish how the events occurred.
According to the FT, the firm has already interviewed 15 people who participated in the night out, seven of whom went to the striptease club, and concluded that no explicit pressure had been exerted on the younger employees.
