In the health field, the most important task is patient care, although it is not the only one. It is also important to promote actions of change among the general population. Through prevention it is possible to avoid multiple problems of varying magnitude. With that in mind, the “Vaccinate to give opportunities” Award that this 2022 reaches its eighth edition.
This initiative of the pharmaceutical group Sanofi is aimed at health professionals, researchers, journalists, activists and institutions focused on public health. Since its birth, it has become one of the greatest recognitions for those who promote immunization.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), immunizations help prevent at least three million deaths each year. While at present they have become more relevant due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Now, since 2015 Sanofi Pasteur has organized the “Vaccinate to Give Opportunities” Award. The objective is to recognize those who have stood out for their efforts to facilitate access to vaccines in Mexico. This is an issue that has become central, first as a measure to contain the pandemic, but also due to the drop in childhood vaccination rates due to confinement measures.
Categories to participate
- Career Achievement Award: This category recognizes people dedicated to health, whose work in the area of vaccination has contributed to generating and implementing solutions for the main challenges in the matter, strengthening the National Vaccination System for the benefit of the Mexican population with their work. . This category is divided into two: National and State, so it will be important for participants to choose their subcategory.
- Best Practices Award: This award recognizes those individuals or private, public or social, Mexican and non-profit institutions, which have implemented operational solutions in terms of access to vaccination or in the areas of prevention and combat of preventable diseases through immunization, which have been reflected in tangible results to address the various barriers that vaccination still faces.
- Information Dissemination Award: This award recognizes those individuals or private, public or social institutions, Mexican and non-profit, which have carried out work to spread information about the importance of vaccination; on the right to vaccination; on the relevance of timely vaccination and, in general, on vaccination issues with the aim of generating knowledge among the population. This award has three subcategories: Traditional Media, Digital Native Media, Digital Content Creators.
Criteria for choosing the winners
- Actions to raise awareness of the importance and need for vaccination as a disease prevention measure.
- Activities aimed at promoting their acceptance.
- Expansion of the application points, so that the population in general can receive the vaccines and initiatives that reduce costs, among others.
The applications will be analyzed by an Expert Evaluation Committee from the public and private sectors in the fields of health, vaccination and dissemination of information selected by Sanofi.
Award ceremony date
This year the award will consist of a diploma taught by the Ibeoamerican University to strengthen the capacities of the winners in the communication of medical information. The award ceremony will take place in Mexico City in October.
In accordance with Andre Soresiniwho is CEO Sanofi Vaccines Mexico, since this initiative began, 35 ambassadors have been recognized. He also pointed out that vaccines currently play a fundamental role in the health of the world’s population.
