Tech giant Samsung has announced that it will use blockchain technology to improve the security protocols of all its smart devices.
Knox Matrix is your new blockchain-based security solution for “cross-device experiences.” This means that the security layer covers all Samsung devices, from smartphones to home appliances on the network.
Samsung says that Knox Matrix will function as an individual’s “own private blockchain system,” with all of their interconnected devices equipped with multi-layer blockchain oversight. This includes electronics like smartphones, but also smart home TVs and air conditioners.
The new security update is intended to protect users from exploitation of their credentials, while making logins easier.
According to the announcement, all Samsung devices will use the Knox Matrix and receive a unified SDK, regardless of whether they are based on Android, Tizen or another operating system.
This is accompanied by another announcement from the company about its new collaboration with Google to improve the experiences of smart devices in the home.
