Sam Bankman-Fried, former CEO of cryptocurrency exchange FTX, could stop playing League of Legends and other video games if new changes proposed by the US attorney’s office to his bail conditions are approved.
In a letter sent on February 15 to District Judge Lewis Kaplan, prosecutor Damian Williams was asking the court to expand the restrictions on Bankman-Fried’s use of electronic devices.
He noted Bankman-Fried’s recent use of devices as a cause for concern, agreeing with the court’s insight that it was “misappropriate” to focus solely on restricting app use.adding:
“The Court has before it the record of a defendant who appears to be motivated to evade surveillance and find loopholes in existing bail conditions. The appropriate course, therefore, is broader restrictions on the use of the defendant’s mobile phone, tablet, computer and internet, with limited exceptions.”
Prosecutors propose that Bankman-Fried be prohibited from using mobile phones, tablets, computers or the internet, except for very limited uses such as reviewing pretrial evidence, communicating with lawyers and accessing email.

This is the list of new proposed restrictions on bail bonds that SBF is going to completely ignore, with no real consequences.
He would be restricted from using a single computer and a mobile phone, which in addition to his Gmail account would be monitored through a “pen search”, which is a device or process that essentially produces a list of phone numbers from Internet addresses contacted from a specific source.
Bankman-Fried is known to be an avid gamer and has played online video games like League of Legends during fundraising rounds while at FTX.
Bankman-Fried also mentioned during an interview with the New York Times on November 13 that he likes to playas it helps you “chill out a bit” and clear your mind.
Under the new proposed bail conditions, it seems that Bankman-Fried will no longer be able to participate in this activity.
Earlier this month, The former CEO was banned from using encrypted messaging apps after it was discovered that he had contacted potential witnesses in his criminal case.
On February 14, he was also temporarily banned from using a VPN after the Department of Justice found that he had used a VPN on two separate occasions to watch sports broadcasts.. This ban will be discussed further at a hearing on February 16.
Many in the crypto community disliked Bankman-Fried’s initial bail conditions, which required her to wear an ankle bracelet but allowed her full computer and Internet access from her parents’ luxurious home. in sunny California.
SBF will be spending Christmas at home with his parents playing video games rather than locked up in a cell. What kind of justice is that?
