“How about $10,000?” A contest for Elektra’s Children’s Day gave away $10,000 and, since it was not successful, Salinas Pliego decided to take it up to $70,000.
Elektra launched a customer loyalty campaign as part of its contest for Children’s Day. The winner would receive a $10,000 gift certificate to the company’s stores.
The mechanics of the promotion is as follows: you have to enter Elektra’s Facebook page before April 30, locate the contest publication and share in the comments section. recreation a family photo from childhood. The before and after, with a tag @Elektra.Mx and the hashtag #DíaDelNiñoElektra.
The idea is simple and effective and the prize is interesting: the aforementioned $10,000.
According to the brand, an Elektra jury will evaluate all the photographs received and will choose the three best photos. The most original will be the winners.
But Ricardo Salinas Pliego, founder and president of Grupo Salinas, a holding company to which Elektra belongs, could not handle his genius and participated in the contest.
True to his habit of having high participation on Twitter and seeing that the publication of the contest did not have much participation, he decided to multiply the prize.
“Win a voucher for $10,000! You just have to recreate a photo of your childhood to participate in the dynamics of #DíaDelNiñoElektra”, says the tweet to which Salinas Pliego gave a commented RT.
He added: “How about $10,000? Let’s see, to ALL my followers, who sends a photo and RT this post from @ElektraMx? If it reaches 300 RT, a voucher of $50,000 goes. And if it reaches 500 RT, there is a voucher of $70,000 pesos!”
And with an additional text dedicated especially to the Elektra community manager who made the post: “I pay, so that Elektra’s CM doesn’t start crying!”, Salinas clarified in relation to the contest.

Almost 24 hours after the tweet was published, the truth is that not much conversation has been generated. Even with the encouragement of the “boss” of the company, the contest tweet barely reaches 218 RT. Salinas Pliego’s publication did exceed 600 RT.
