Sales of plug-in hybrid cars in Spain have closed the month of July 2022 with a total of 3,661 units. A volume of registered vehicles that, compared to that obtained in the same period last year, translates into a drop of 9.40%. The Lynk & Co 01 has surprised by becoming the best-selling plug-in hybrid car.
The plug-in hybrid car has suffered a new bump. In the month of july 2022 the sales of plug-in hybrid cars in Spain
have accounted for a total of 3,661 units. This volume of registrations, if compared to that registered in the same period of time last year, represents a significant drop of 9.40%.
The market share of vehicles with plug-in hybrid technology (PHEV) reached 4.22% in July. Despite this new decline, Spanish drivers give preference to plug-in hybrid cars over 100% electric cars. And although there are already two consecutive months of falls, the sales figures are positive. Among January and July registrations of plug-in hybrid cars accumulated 27,747 units, 19.54% more than in 2021.
As for the plug-in hybrid passenger car registrations, there is hardly any variation with respect to the previously described data. Practically all plug-in hybrid vehicles sold in Spanish territory are passenger cars. In July, 3,630 units were reached, 10.1% less than in the same month of 2021. Throughout the first seven months of the year, 27,416 plug-in hybrid passenger cars have been sold, 18.39% more than in the previous year.

What have been the most outstanding models? The ranking of plug-in hybrid cars in Spain presents interesting changes. Some changes that affect the model that dominates the category. The Lynk & Co 01 has taken the victory. Although the Lynk & Co brand is barely established in our market and its range consists of a single model, it is obtaining very interesting sales figures.
The KIA Niro has been second. A model that has recently undergone a generational change. Something key that we must keep in mind since the arrival at dealerships of its new generation will encourage registrations. And closing the podium, in third place, we have the Hyundai Tucson.

At the gates of the podium has been the Jeep Compass. What’s more, it has been able to outperform its “little brother”, the Jeep Renegade. The Jeep brand is betting unapologetically on PHEV technology.
