I would lie vilely if I said that I do not have a huge curiosity to see or that it can get out of the ‘Barbie’ movie that is being cooked at Warner Bros. after the frustrated attempts of other studios to get their hands on this juicy license; and much of the fault is a creative team that promises – if the production company allows it – an atypical approach, to say the least, to the Mattel universe.
C’mon Barbie, let’s go party
After learning that the couple composed of Greta Gerwig —’Lady Bird ‘,’ Little Women’— and Noah Baumbach —’Frances Ha ‘,’ Stories of a marriage’— would be in charge of writing the script for the film —with Gerwig as well directing—, and knowing that Margot Robbie would be in charge of giving life to the doll most famous blonde in the world, today, thanks to Deadline, has transcended the actor who will put himself in the skin —or the plastic— of Ken.
The chosen one has been none other than Ryan Gosling, who is currently in the final stretch of the negotiations. Sources suggest that the actor’s busy schedule invited him to miss the role, but the insistence of the study has ended up dragging him to the world of plastic after making it clear that he was her only option.
At the moment no details have been revealed about the plot of the film, which will probably receive the green light shortly thanks to this latest signing. If all goes well, ‘Barbie’ should start shooting next 2022.
