The start of the second chapter of the Island X-Prix has returned everything in its ‘place’. Carlos Sainz and the ACCIONA team have returned to competition after the Spaniard’s serious accident in the final of the first event, using the organization’s chassis to be able to be part of the competition. The RXR team has also returned to its original position, sanctioned with 30 seconds for Johan Kristoffersson’s touch on Sainz, a penalty that left Nico Rosberg’s team without victory. Nevertheless, RXR is back on top.
The first classification of the second part of the Island X-Prix allowed Johan Kristoffersson and Mikaela Ahlin-Kottulinsky to hit the table of Extreme E. In fact, the combined time of the two RXR drivers was 10.7 seconds quicker than that of their closest competitor, the Odyssey 21 of Hummer Chip Ganassi. With everything, the winners of the first Island X-Prix have performed well, even if Kyle LeDuc had a little scare when overcoming the area of undulations after the first passage of water.

Sébastien Loeb and Cristina Gutiérrez have finished in third position with the 4×4 of Lewis Hamilton’s team after losing 11.3 seconds to the leaders. Despite everything, the Gallic star and the pilot from Burgos have left behind the problems of the first Island X-Prix and have ridden in competitive times again. In fact, the X44 team duo has beaten the McLaren of Tanner Foust and Emma Gilmour by almost four seconds. For its part, the fifth place has been taken by the Andretti United team.
Nasser Al-Attiyah and Jutta Kleinschmidt finished in sixth position with the CUPRA in a qualifying session that has ended with some protagonists of the past Island X-Prix in delayed positions. Normal situation in the case of Carlos Sainz and Laia Sanzsince the Spanish driver still has some pain and the chassis used is still the Extreme E test car. Despite the efforts of the entire team, neither the drivers nor ACCIONA’s own mechanics have the car ‘by hand’.
Nor have things gone particularly well for the XITE Energy Racing team. The Spanish structure managed to get on the podium in the first edition of the Island X-Prix, but its drivers have not started the second event in Sardinia on such a good foot. Tamara Molinaro’s scare in the ripples after the first step of water has almost ended in a spin for the XITE Energy Odyssey 21. This mistake has taken the team to penultimate position, just ahead of Veloce Racing.
