Through an open letter published on Twitter, Facebook and other social networks, the Russian embassy in Mexico announced the position of the community of that country regarding the conflict.
In general terms, it asks for neutrality, demands that what they consider discrimination end and recommends not being misinformed or carried away by fake news.
In the text released this Tuesday, March 1, the Russian community based in Mexico denounces media disinformation campaigns, without giving details of which channels/newspapers are involved.
It also highlights that the advance of discrimination against Mexican citizens of Russian origin can generate a conflict between the Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian communities living in Latin America.
The Russian communities expressed in the open letter that by living in Mexican territory and being part of the same society they want to “eradicate ethnic conflicts” and say that a few years ago Russia and Ukraine were a single nation and that is why “the peoples Russians and Ukrainians have always been brothers.”
The text bears the signature of the Coordinating Council of the Russian Communities in Mexico.
