ROWE Racing has confirmed its sports program for the 2022 season. The Germany-based team will compete with two units of the new BMW M4 GT3 in the Endurance Cup of the GT World Challenge Europe, thus signing his return to the series after a year of absence. In parallel, the team will also seek victory at the 24 Hours of Nürburgringan event that the formation won together with BMW in 2020. This ambitious double GT3 program distances ROWE Racing from the DTM, a championship in which Schubert Motorsport and Walkenhorst Motorsport will represent BMW this year.
The first of the ROWE Racing M4 GT3s to compete in all five rounds of the Endurance Cup will wear the number #99 and it will be the Pro team of the formation, with a line-up made up of highly experienced official BMW drivers. In fact, in #99 they will compete Augusto Farfus, Nicky Catsburg and Nick Cassidy. In the case of the Brazilian Farfus, it will be his first program together with ROWE Racing, but not for his two teammates who were already part of the driver line-up that took victory at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring in 2020.
For its part, the second of the team’s GT3s will be assigned to the BMW Junior Team. He will wear the #50 number as a tribute to the 50th anniversary of BMW M and will feature a team of drivers who know each other very well. In fact, Dan Harper, Neil Verhagen, and Max Hesse they have competed together in the last two seasons under BMW’s tutelage in other series, including an NLS in which they have taken two wins and four podiums. The three now land in the GT World Challenge Europe to burn another stage of their development.
Hans-Peter NaundorfROWE Racing Team Principal, commented on this programme: «The BMW M4 GT3 is a completely new car with state-of-the-art technology and a much more aggressive appearance than its predecessor. We are all excited to work on this car. For this season and the next ones we have had the opportunity to do the Endurance Cup and compete in the 24 Hours of Spa. This program will run parallel to our regular project at the Nürburgring.”
As Naundorf has explained, the team will fight again for the 24 Hours of Nürburgring, cites that ROWE Racing won in 2020 with a BMW M6 GT3 driven by Nicky Catsburg, Nick Yelloly and Alexander Sims. The preparation for the queen event of the German resistance of the ROWE Racing team includes his participation in the two qualifying NLS pre-test events in Aprilin addition to the qualifying event itself for the 24 Hours of Nürburgring that takes place in early May.
