In amazing news for the entire Rocket League gaming community, the developers are celebrating Women’s History Month with a collection of new Player Anthems from producer, songwriter, and philanthropist, Linda Perry!
Something that has caught our attention is that the collection is called “Behind the Scenes – Linda Perry” and is available for free from today until the end of the month. Players will find it in the “Behind the Scenes” in-game tab and as a playlist on Rocket League Radio. These are the three songs that are in the collection:
Additionally, tomorrow March 11 at 2PM MEX / 5PM ARG there will be an Instagram Live with creator Athena and Linda Perry. This will take place on the Rocket League Instagram account and will be a conversation around Linda’s music experience.
BEHIND THE MUSIC
Linda Perry has big hats and an even bigger musical presence. Over the years, she has been involved in the creation of dozens of iconic songs. After developing her musical talents in the San Francisco art scene, Perry began to gain notoriety after writing the hit alternative rock song “What’s Up?” for her band 4 Non Blondes. Today, the song remains a classic and reached a whopping 1 billion views on YouTube.
After 4 Non Blondes, Perry continued to be an influence in the music world due to her work with other well-known female artistic figures. Girl power in 2000 was in full swing when P!nk rocked the world with a Perry-penned song that topped the charts.
At a time when pop femininity meant looking, acting and talking a certain way, P!nk showed millions of young girls that there was room in the world for all kinds of women. The success of “Get The Party Started” from her second album made it clear to the world that female empowerment was here to stay.
From the Ché Café to the stages of Austin, Surfbort’s roots are deep in the DIY music scene. It’s an eclectic community that hates having to pay to play and drummers are in short supply.
However, thanks to a few lucky breaks and mountains of talent, Surfbort caught the attention of Perry, who would later collaborate with the band to produce their “Keep on Truckin'” album. Vocalist Dani Miller continues to do her best just by being the same girl with vampire fangs as always. In this way, she reminds the world that gender expression can always be messed up.
