In great news for the entire VALORANT gaming community, Riot Games today revealed innovative new plans for VALORANT Esports that will establish three international leagues as the highest competitive level for the 2023 season.
Something that we find quite remarkable is that the new model will incorporate long-term partnerships with no entry fees for a select number of teams, in order to ensure the long-term stability of the fastest growing Esport in the world. To support the initiative, Riot Games will launch new features and events, including:
- Three new international leagues will offer weekly competitions between the best teams in the world. The three international leagues, made up of teams from the Americas, Europe and Asia, will see the best players compete against each other in LAN environments and in front of a live audience (health and safety conditions permitting).
- Throughout the year, the top teams in each league will earn a pass to two international Masters events and VALORANT Champions, where a single team will be crowned VALORANT World Champion.
- A new competitive in-game mode, available to all players directly from the VALORANT client, designed to identify the best players around the world.
This mode will act as a complement to the existing leaderboards and offer players a new goal beyond the ranked mode that integrates into the esports ecosystem. The launch of new local leagues will expand the opportunities for up-and-comers aspiring to make it to the elite international leagues.
The best teams in the competitive mode within the game will have the opportunity to compete against the best in their region within their respective local leagues. Riot Games will innovate in the competitive esports space by waiving any entry or participation fees for selected organizations in order to establish partners for long-term success.
“With VALORANT, we want to build today’s most exciting Esports together with the best-run, most ambitious, and most passionate teams in the industry. We designed our long-term partnership model for VALORANT so that teams can thrive and build their business.” along with the overall growth of VALORANT esports,” said Whalen Rozelle, Director of Esports Operations at Riot Games.
“By not charging any entry or participation fees to selected organizations, we are helping our partners achieve long-term success. Our goal is to give our partners the freedom to invest their resources in supporting their professionals and in growing their following through creating great content for fans.”
