Great news for all anime fans, the official website for the anime adaptation of Summer Time Rendering, Yasuki Tanaka’s supernatural mystery manga, recently announced that Rie Kugimiya (Kagura in Gintama and Momo Nishimiya in Jujutsu Kaisen), will join its cast as Shiori Kobayakawa, a third-grade girl with a secret.
Something that seems quite curious to us is that many fans will be amazed by this. We warn you that there may be spoilers with the description of the character, which the website introduces as:
“A third grade student who lives with her parents, who run the KobaMart supermarket in Hitogashima. A few days after the girl said that she had seen someone identical to her, she drowned while she was swimming in the sea, and Ushio, who tried to rescue her from her, also lost his life. The girl is Shiori’s ‘shadow’, who killed the real Shiori and took her place.”
Kugimiya said of her character that, “I may look like a little girl, but I enjoy portraying her in a bit of an odd way, keeping the tone of the story exciting. Please enjoy it until the end!”
The anime is directed by Ayumu Watanabe (Children of the Sea) for OLM. The adaptation of Yasuki Tanaka’s original manga is streaming on Disney+ in Japan, in addition to local television networks that premiered it on April 14. The original manga ran on the Shonen Jump+ service in Japan and MANGA Plus internationally. This is his synopsis:
