Sims 4 “Yes, I do” reaches fans of the saga… with a somewhat questionable launch in its only PC version. We tell you in this note if love is in the air or not.
The latest content pack for The Sims 4 “If I want to” is among us, for try help us tell our most beautiful love stories. And by “most beautiful love stories” we mean fulfilling our sordid fantasies of marrying various celebrities. And yes, we may have downloaded a Chayanne Sims solely for this purpose.
So far, everything is very beautiful…the problem is that Sims 4 “I do” is the content pack with the most problematic launch this game has had in at least three years. Regardless of how much you may like it or how much you can assess the added value that this game brings to the gameplaythe final version It came out with so many bugs that most simmers around the world are recommending waiting for a new patch to buy it.
But let’s try to tell you the whole story…
A sloppy launch…
The announcement of the pack Sims 4 “I do” generated a lot of expectation in the simmers of all the world. The problems started within the community when the Maxis announced that, in order not to support measures that promote homophobia -we know very well that the Sims team has strong inclusion policies and always creates content of this type-they would not release the pack in Russia. The argument was that if they launched it in that country, they would have to make changes to the cover and the trailer of the game, to replace the protagonists Sun and Cam by a heterosexual couple.
Simmers from all over the world began to complain about the measure, since in their opinion it prohibited the Russian LGBT+ community from a pack that would be very useful for them to cope with the fact that being homosexual is not allowed in this country. Finally, the community won and the pack was released… a few days late, but without any modifications.
A new world and new objects
Sims 4 “Yes I do” takes place on the island of Tartosa. There we will find beautiful beaches, some residential lots, a small shopping center, a bar and the new type of “wedding venue” lot that will provide us with everything we need for our desired wedding.
The world of tartosa it is without a doubt one of the most beautiful that Sims 4 has introduced, full of places to walk next to you sims loved one and generate an ideal romantic moment to ask the big question. In this sense, the pack managed to capture what it was looking for.
At the buy/build mode level, we find a good variety of objects among which stand out new shaped wedding arches, aisles leading down the aisle, wedding decorations, food trays, fountain stands, fondeu fountains and pianos. The different decorative styles will allow you to create a wedding according to the culture that you like the most. And combined with other packs such as the Andalusia Patio Kit, Island Living or Snow Getaway, You will be able to deepen even more the chosen theme. This is also very successful within the pack.
A CAS with lots of love
Again the team sims fell short in the amount of men’s content it incorporated into the pack’s CAS. However, the female content makes the number of items added to your game more than 60. You will find beautiful dresses from different cultures and styles, bridesmaid outfits, and different swatches in case you are an unconventional bride and want to get married in black. All CAS content revolves around the girlfriend(s) in your game. They also incorporated rings, which give it an extra touch.
50% of marriages end in divorce and…
What promised a lot at the content level ended up being overshadowed by how much the gameplay intervened. Before we start telling you what happened to us when we wanted to start the ceremonies, let’s clarify that for this review we turned off all mods and custom content, to make sure it didn’t interfere with the content of the pack and generate unwanted errors.
We take advantage of the fact that thanks to the latest Sims 4 update, new game situations were added to be the catapult of this pack. In this case, “conflicting commitment” pitted us against a newly engaged engaged couple…to see how we would fare. Color note: We did very badly. The girlfriend died of a heart attack as soon as we started playing and we had to find Sims Chayanne a new fiancée. We completely aborted the mission.
The first thing we notice in the gameplay experience of this pack is that it is not content to add to new games. In order to take advantage of it, it is necessary that we have an advanced game. With friends, family ties, etc. They will be necessary to give meaning to the events that we carry out...and so you don’t end up walking down the aisle with a food cart attendant you just met.
Sims 4 “I Do” adds seven new events to play with our Sims. “Bachelorette Party”, “Rehearsal Dinner”, “Engagement Dinner”, “Family Reunion”, “Wedding Banquet”, “Vow Renewal” and “Wedding Ceremony”. In these events we can invite our friends and family to share the love with us and plan what we will do. The problem is that in all except the Wedding Ceremony, the options are basically the same.
In each of the social events, we will have the option to “direct” our guests so that they do what we want. Thus, we can make everyone go to eat, dance, sit, etc. We will also have to assign each of our friends and acquaintances a specific role in the wedding.
One of the things that doesn’t work well with this pack either is that there is no dress code for each of these events. Or if there is, the command does not respond. That’s why in the next screenshot we have Lucia, who decided to go to her rehearsal dinner directly from the beach. Very good Lucia, don’t let anyone tell you what to wear.
But…once we get to the lot, each Sims will be dressed as they want. Directing the guests is complicated, many times they will do what they want and not what we tell them. In case you get married in the lot that is prepared for this, since there are two altars, the Sims will get confused and go to the one they want and not the one you tell them to. The officiant will not officiate your wedding, he will simply not listen to you. Nobody will pay attention to your sims dancing the first dance as a bride and groom, the bride and groom do not stand still at the altar, the guests will not always react to you throwing the bouquet, the bride and groom cannot cut the cake and in many cases the cake will be spoiled before we can get married. The experience of playing a wedding right now is slow and frustrating.
Finally, after a 24 hour in-game ceremony, we managed to get Chayanne and Katrina married. Beyond the bugs, there are things that by design within this pack seem to be a throwback to things we already had. For example, when planning the ceremony we cannot hire caterers, bartenders or entertainers: we must do so when we arrive at the room. This, although it is solved quickly, is a bit tedious because it makes you spend time within the same ceremony.
Conclution
This pack replaces the traditional Sims 4 wedding type. We have a beautiful new world with a lot of secrets to discover, a CAS with amazing dresses and a lot of good intentions. But, at the moment the weddings -the main attraction of the pack- do not work. Perhaps the most advisable thing for everyone will be to wait for the game to be fixed through patches and then be able to evaluate if the quality of the finished product is sufficient to recommend buying it. Right now, it’s not something we can honestly do.
