With the incredible sales success of 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, a sequel was almost inevitable. Activision confirmed not long ago that the 2022 Call of Duty game would be a sequel to Modern Warfare developed by Infinity Ward, and more details have now been confirmed. The name of the 2022 Call of Duty has been officially revealed along with its logo.
As previously leaked, the 2022 Call of Duty is titled “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2The hashtag posted with the original post spells it Modern Warfare 2, but the official Call of Duty Twitter account has hashtags that use roman numerals as well.
Previously, it was reported that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 it was to be titled “Modern Warfare II” with Roman numerals to differentiate it from 2009’s MW2, and if the logo is any indication, it appears those reports were correct.
In any case, this revelation of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 it comes pretty early for a Call of Duty game, as the latest installments have waited until the end of summer to announce their titles and other details.
It’s possible that the not-so-positive reaction to Call of Duty: Vanguard and the reaction to Warzone’s map Caldera are fueling Activision’s desire to promote the game Call of Duty this year ahead of schedule.
And since we already have a name and logo, presumably the gameplay reveal will come sooner rather than later. It wouldn’t be surprising if fans got their first look at the gameplay of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II long before what they saw in the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Vanguard.
Of course, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is only half of the equation when it comes to Call of Duty’s 2022 plans. Previously, it was confirmed that a new Call of Duty: Warzone experience is being built alongside Modern Warfare. Warfare II, although it has not been confirmed if it will actually be released this year. Call of Duty fans will have to wait for more information on this.
