Of the many exciting things that were announced during the Capcom Showcase, it was the Resident Evil Village DLC, among other announcements from the Resident Evil franchise, and most notably the RE Village. With new playable characters added to the Mercenaries mode, as well as a third-person mode reminiscent of Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes, fans have a lot to look forward to from Resident Evil Village. However, the new content that has many fans excited is the DLC campaign.
When Resident Evil Village Gold Edition was announced, the first thing shown was Resident Evil Village: Shadows of Rose DLC. This campaign takes place after the events of the base game and follows the story of Rose Winters, the daughter of Ethan Winters. While this will hopefully introduce new narrative possibilities, Shadows of Rose is apparently much more difficult than the original game.

Resident Evil Village DLC will be more difficult
Via Twitter, a user named AestheticGamer tweeted that, according to the game’s official Twitter page, the Resident Evil Village DLC, Shadows of Rose, will have a much higher difficulty than the base game. This is due to the fact that ammo, healing items, and other helpful tools will be much more limited in comparison. Presumably this is a way to emphasize player choice similar to the original Resident Evil titles.

The choice of a higher difficulty in Shadows of Rose could be an indication of the story that Capcom is trying to tell with this campaign. Many players are speculating on the direction the narrative of Shadows of Rose will take now that Ethan Winters is no longer the playable protagonist, and one of the reasons this is happening is that not much is known about Rose’s character to begin with.
