A new report has stated that we will have a Red Dead Redemption 2 next-gen version at some point in the future. Right now, you can play RDR on both Xbox Series X thanks to backward compatibility, but the game itself doesn’t take full advantage of what each platform is capable of. And while Red Dead Redemption 2 does receive some performance improvements on these consoles as it currently stands, it looks like a native port of the title should be coming soon.
According to Tez2, who is an oft-quoted person for Rockstar Games, we should have a next-gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2 “sometime soon.” This report points out that the new version of the game will be distributed through an updatemeaning that those who already own Red Dead Redemption 2 on previous-gen consoles probably wouldn’t have to pay to get the updated game.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Next Gen
As for when this next-gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2 might arrive, Tez2 says it’s unclear when that might happen, but it seems likely that Rockstar is working on the update at the moment. In a general sense, it wouldn’t be strange to see Rockstar Games release the next-gen version of Red Dead Redemption 2 for a number of reasons. As it is, the game has already sold tens of millions of copies, which means that Rockstar surely wants to keep the title current.

Additionally, Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, announced last year that will release a large number of remasters and adaptations in the near future. Although Red Dead Redemption 2 has never been committed to being one of these ports, the game’s previous success makes it seem like a very likely candidate.
