Renault’s second electric SUV on the way. The Rombo brand prepares a new assault for the compact segment, with a model that will be positioned just above the recently presented Mégane E-Tech Electric, and that has already advanced with a new teaser. The future model will arrive in 2023, based on the Morphoz concept.
The commercial launch of the new Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric is scheduled for spring 2022, but those of the Rombo are already working on a second electric model of the same body type. The future model is part of the new launch plan “eWays”, which includes the commercialization of no less than a dozen electric cars by 2025, seven with the Rhombus logo and three with the Alpine seal. The first is already in contention and the second is the one that Renault has advanced with an image in which only the lateral shape is appreciated, with a clear focus more familiar than sporty, and a large interior space that will offer thanks to a length close to 4.6 meters.

The new model is known, because we already gave you some information last year, when it was known with the internal development code «HCC» and based on the concept of the Renault Morphoz, a project that, in reality, had two variants including also known as «HCB». Of the two, the brand has decided to bring only the latter into production to attack the C segment after presenting the new “Renaulution” strategy, so the role of the top of the range will be covered with Alpine.
A future model that will also be developed on the advanced CMF-EV platform designed for all the group’s electric vehicles, and which will share technologies with the Nissan Ariya. Among its arguments, it will highlight a powertrain that will house propulsion units with one and two power-adjustable electric motors moving on a range between 160 and 290 kW. Figures that suppose between 218 and 394 hp in the most powerful, together with a powerful battery supplied by LG Chem made in Poland.
Few more details are known for now about this new electric SUV, although some French sources point out that the brand you already have a commercial name thought for this model: the same as that of the minivan, a name that has been widely accepted for four generations, so it could be perceived as a more modern reinterpretation and under the umbrella of the electric power of the old minivan. Or rather, Renault Scénic E-Tech Electric.
