Just a few days ago we learned that the third season of The Witcher series of Netflix It would arrive in the summer of 2023, but luckily for fans of the witcher Geralt of Rivia, there is more content in the universe before that date. In that sense, today we tell you everything you need to know about The Witcher: Blood Origin (translated in Spain as The Witcher: The Origin of Blood), a prequel miniseries that will take us a thousand years before the events narrated in the main series. Today we will tell you when its release date is, how many episodes it will have, we will tell you about its synopsis so that you know what it is about and we will briefly review the main names of its cast.
As confirmed by Netflix at the TUDUM event, The Witcher: Blood Origin will arrive next December 25th, just in time for Christmas day, and it will do so, of course, with the premiere of all its episodes in full and simultaneously, following the platform’s classic publication format. Although it was originally going to have six chapters, the series commanded by Declan de Barra will finally be composed of four episodes. After some reshoots and a new montage, in the end this format has been chosen so that the series has more rhythm and is more coherent.
But what is The Witcher: Blood Origin about? That is the key question. The miniseries will take us thousand years ago regarding the lives of Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer of Vengerberg and Ciri of Cintra and will explore two pivotal events in the universe created by Andrzej Sapkowski: the Conjunction of the Spheres, an astronomical incident that caused the different spheres to collapse and magic and monsters to reach the world we know; and the creation of the first warlock. All of this will be explained from the point of view of a curious and diverse trio of protagonists: an experienced elf, an itinerant bard, and a seasoned warrior.

Precisely these three characters are the three big names in the cast. He will play the elf Michelle Yeoh (All at once everywhere, Shang-Chi); to the fence, Sophia Brown (Marcella, Disobedience); and the warrior Laurence O’Fuarain (Normal People, The Secret Letter).
