Overwatch closed its servers on October 3 at 6:00 p.m. We will never know Blizzard’s charismatic game again as we knew it in 2016. Overwatch 2 will replace its predecessor with many changes. Here I tell you everything you need to know to be prepared before its launch.
Overwatch 2: release date and time
When will it arrive Overwatch 2 to all platforms? The October 4 at 9:00 p.m. for free. This is a worldwide release, so everyone will be able to log in and start playing simultaneously. Needless to say, Overwatch as you’ve known it is no longer playable. It will be replaced.
When the moment comes, Overwatch 2 It will be available in the PlayStation Store, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, and in the Blizzard launcher for PC (minimum and recommended requirements). Plus, you don’t need PlayStation Plus, Xbox Live Gold, or Nintendo Switch Online to play with your friends. It couldn’t be more free.
Before you start playing Overwatch 2
One of the most common questions is: what happens to all my Overwatch content in Overwatch 2? Blizzard has put the batteries in this section. In addition to crossplay (cross-play between consoles), it will also have crossave.
This means that you have all your content and progress unified in a single Battle.Net account, which in turn will have to connect with PSN, Xbox and Nintendo. Your aesthetic elements (skins, emotes, etc), achievements, and credits from Overwatch carry over to Overwatch 2 as long as you use the same account. Even game settings are preserved!
To check that everything is connected correctly, look in the main menu of the game for the section “Merging Accounts” and check that you have linked all the accounts you are going to use.
Tips for Beginners…and Veterans Returning to Overwatch 2
Time to take action! Overwatch 2 introduces some very important changes from Overwatch. In this section I kill two birds with one stone: beginners know the game and veterans know the changes.
What does this change imply? According to Blizzard, the individual impact will now be much greater and the action will be more concentrated in competitive games.
In Overwatch 2 You will be able to see markers during the game that show the statistics of all the players, both allies and rivals. This provides vital information on which player to attack more often or if a teammate is underperforming, for example. And speaking of performance, ranges remain: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, Grand Master and Top 500.
The things that go in for the ones that go out
Game modes come and go. mode is entered Push, where you will have to push (or avoid being pushed) a robot to the finish line with your team. On the other hand, Blizzard withdraws the assault mode and the maps Anubis, Hanamura Y Volskaya. Don’t worry, new ones will arrive!
Overwatch 2 has also thought measures for beginner players:
- They have to earn a total of 50 or more quick matches in order to access the Competitive mode. Progress also helps unlock game modes and chat, among other features.
- They have to play an average of 100 games to have access to the entire cast of available base characters in Overwatch 2. Those who arrive in a battle pass are another story.
Finally, some heroes have received changes related to the balance of their abilities. As for the rest, Overwatch 2 maintains the same essence of Overwatch: you choose a character with their unique abilities and you face the rival team along with four other players. You can do it via matchmaking or together with your friends from any platform.

Content you should expect from Overwatch 2: Battle Pass, store, challenges…
Overwatch 2 introduces the Seasons system and the Battle Pass, similar to what is already happening in Fortnite, Apex Legends and Warzone, for example. There will be one Battle Pass per Season, which will last for a total of nine weeks.
As usual, there will be a Free Battle Pass and a Premium Battle Pass (10 euros or 2,000 credits). The only difference between the two will be aesthetic elements and the number of levels (20 free and 80 Premium), because the new characters will be available for both modes.
Seasons and Battle Passes
Seasons and Battle Passes bring with them the challengesa series of missions that help you progress with additional experience and award game credits: daily, weekly, seasonal, competitive, hero… You will not be short of things to do!
The store It is not too different from Fortnite: there will be character packs, skins and other aesthetic elements that will be updated every so often. It will include a section that recommends content based on the heroes you play most often.
Finally, I remind you that Overwatch 2 will have a campaign or story mode like Call of Duty, Battlefield, Battlefront II and other shooting games. Unlike multiplayer, Overwatch 2’s story mode will be paid.
