They have been proven to be efficient and especially if they are geared to the age of each child.
Believe it or not, anxiety and stress can also affect children and in these cases, it is convenient to learn relaxation techniques according to the age of each child. Take note!
From 0 to 3 years
At this stage the children have not yet fully developed their independence, so it is not possible to give them relaxation instructions for them to do, but we can work with them consistently so that they are integrating the moments of relaxation in their daily life.
To do this, choose a time of day when you are alone with your baby, we recommend before nap or before bed, this will help you fall asleep.
Place your baby on a flat, comfortable surface, start talking softly to him, lower the lights so they are dim and don’t bother him. You can tell him a story or just talk to him about nice things but with a sweet tone of voice. You can take the opportunity to massage your little hands, legs or back, it is important that you feel physical contact with your skin.
From 3 to 7 years
As they are no longer babies and are in the stage of wanting to do everything themselves, take the opportunity to do guided relaxation now. It can be done at any time of the day, but it helps a lot to do it before bedtime, when the child has already brushed his teeth and put on his pajamas, so that he goes into complete relaxation to sleep. Tell him everything he has to do in a soft voice and low light.
To teach them to breathe we can tell them that they are like a balloon that someone begins to inflate little by little. As you inflate your arms and legs have to get big, big as you breathe slowly. And when it is fully inflated it gradually deflates.
The turtle technique is effective in relaxing the neck and shoulder area, where more tension accumulates. Explain that it is a turtle that puts its neck into the shell and then takes it out, this will make it move its neck and shoulders and when it is tensioned and released, it will relax.
In the hugging technique we can teach him by first doing it with them, giving him a strong hug where all the muscles tense and then releasing him to relax each muscle, then they can do it with their favorite stuffed animal.
