Seven months have passed since Russia fired the first bullet in the territory of Ukraine to unleash a war that has left only death and destruction. A war conflict does not generate anything positive, but within the misfortune there are always some nuances to highlight.
Like that of the young Igor Klymenko, a 17-year-old boy who turned to his wonderful technological knowledge while holed up in a Ukrainian basement.
With the sound of bombs and the noise of alarms, Igor developed a landmine detector drone to help soldiers fighting for their nation. Russia has a huge advantage when it comes to military issues, but in Ukraine they fight out of love for their country.
Realizing what an amazing device he had made, Igor decided to enter the 2022 Global Student Award. There were a total of 7,000 entries from over 150 countries, and the Ukrainian’s drone was the one that wowed the judges.
As an incentive for this award, the people of Global Clinton give the winner a $100,000 scholarship, which was given to the young Ukrainian during the UN General Assembly Week in New York. Press Area.

The drone that detects mines without activating them
“I started to create different devices for the mining territories and one of them was the quadcopter mine detector. There were many challenges that impacted me in the development of my project. The biggest of them was the war: the hostilities near my village. I lived in a basement with eight people and kept working on my device,” Igor said.
“I am deeply honored to receive this award today. But the truth is that everyone I know in my land is a hero who deserves to be recognized and I dedicate this award to all of them. Mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, sons, daughters. They are all doing extraordinary things,” added the young man in his award acceptance speech.
Igor’s invention is called quadcopter mine detector. It has a mechanism capable of geolocating explosive objects. Provides the coordinates of your location within two centimeters.
It has already received two official patents from Ukraine, it can detect landmines without activating them, something that will obviously be positive for the Ukrainians in the midst of the tragedy they are going through.
