Traditionally when we talk about a stick or a dongle to connect to a television and equip it with an operating system, we think of Google’s Chromecast or Amazon’s Fire TV Stick. Models that see competition appear in the market with the announcement by Realme of its stick with Google TV.
Realme has presented the Google TV stick, a model that we already heard about in September that, like the two previous models, connects to the HDMI port of the TV. It offers a design similar to Amazon models, shaped like a pendrive and offers support for 4K, HDR10 and HDR10 + video.
The Realme Google TV stick makes use of Google TV, the Cupertino firm’s operating system that debuted with the recent Chromecast. A new interface awaiting update offering access to profiles.
The Realme Google TV stick makes use inside an AMLogic SoC with a quad-core ARM Cortex-A35 CPU and is accompanied by 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage integrated.
The Realme Google TV stick offers support for 4K video with 60 Hz and allows you to play content with HDR10 +. Along with the stick itself, it includes a remote control similar to the one offered by the Fire TV stick to control access to the main functions.
Offers access to the main streaming video platforms, case of Prime Video, Apple TV +, HBO Max, YouTube, Netflix … and in the same way to the entire catalog of applications available in the Google Play Store.
In addition, the Realme Google TV stick has Chromecast integrated that facilitates streaming data locally from the phone and voice control from the same remote thanks to the Google Assistant.
The new device allows decoding with AV1 and HEVC codecs. What we will not find is the support for Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision audio It has Wi-Fi connectivity and Bluetooth 5.0 and precise power supply via micro USB port.
Price and availability
The Realme Google TV stick will initially launch in India at a price of Rs 3999 which comes to be about 46 euros to change.
