It is thanks to the accelerated digitalization that we live due to the global confinement that, Today, we have several options on the market to order food at homeall with the intention of satisfying the needs of the user.
Applications such as Uber Eats, DiDiFood, Rappi, among others, won over consumers who, increasingly, are looking for services that provide them with comfort and receive their orders at the door of their homes.
This has been revealed by the conclusions of the Oracle Retail Consumer Research 2020 study, which indicates that, during the pandemic, Mexicans spent three to five hours a week on the internet to make purchases through digital channels.
In this context, Rappi, a platform originally from Colombia, has been downloaded more than 10 million times through Google Play, completing 100 million orders to its credit since its launch in 2015, according to data collected from Statista until 13 July 2020.
In fact, in just over five years, Rappi has seen its brand value increase to US$5.2 billiona growth of 420 percent, compared to the figure reached in September 2018.
Today, we are talking about a time when digital platforms offer a different experience to the user and, of course, social networks are not far behind. TikTok, which was launched in 2016, is a clear example of this, a social network that achieved great growth and is now one of the spaces most used by new generations.
Rappi delivery man narrates, on TikTok, experience with drunk customer
It was through TikTok that a Rappi delivery man, using his own social network, shared his story with an intoxicated customer.
He is also a tiktoker, who calls himself @barrybarrosorelates that this happened last Sunday, the day he had a double order from a pizzeria, that is, he had to take two different products to two different addresses.
Once he picks up the order at the establishment, the delivery man says that “I arrive at the delivery point and I send him a message that I have arrived and since he did not answer, I dialed him. The client never answered me and due to application policies, I have to wait there”.
After six minutes, according to the Rappi delivery man, “A man came out and when he approached me I smelled that he was a little drunk. When talking to him, he smelled of alcohol, and the man told me ‘Look, man, the problem is like this: I don’t even like pizzas. That pizza was ordered by my son. You are going to have to take my son’s pizza to his house because he made a mistake ”.
The young man’s destination, apparently, was somewhat removed from the original location and, given this, the delivery man affirms that he cannot take it since he already had to deliver another order. The outcome is told, of course, in his video.
