Radical was inspired by the true story of a teacher from Matamoros, Tamaulipas, and his brilliant primary school student, named Paloma Noyola, who in an article by journalist Joshua Davis—producer of the film—was referred to ten years ago as “the next Steve Jobs.”
Under the direction of Christopher Zalla, this dramatic film is about a charismatic primary school teacher – played by Derbez – who sets out to apply unorthodox teaching methods, in order to awaken curiosity and the desire to learn in his students; All this, against the background of violence, insecurity and drug trafficking that prevails in that community, where the lowest levels of school performance are also recorded.
