To make the commitment effective, Adriana Vega Vázquez, head of the Ministry of Tourism of Querétaro, met with Gustavo Santos, director for the Americas of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO)In Madrid Spain.
During the meeting, Vega Vázquez explained the state’s commitment to establish strategies that allow obtaining both indicators and statistics that measure the progress and impact of tourist activity on the region’s natural environment.
“I am convinced that Querétaro can be a sustainability reference for Mexico and for Latin America. Our commitment is permanent to help Querétaro, to assist Mexico and to assist all of Latin America”, affirmed the director for the Americas of the UNWTO.
In addition, Santos pointed out that the UNWTO will announce new guidelines for destinations that want to join these commitments.
