There will be a Puebla-Tlaxcala Light Train! A system of Light Rail will be built to connect the states of Puebla and Tlaxcala, as announced in the Official Newspaper of the first mentioned entity.
The announcement is of enormous importance given that both states share a metropolitan territory made up of 39 municipalities.
Train within the Metropolitan Development Program
This project is located within the Puebla-Tlaxcala Metropolitan Program, in which the governments of both states and the Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development of the federal government collaborate.
In this way, Puebla and Tlaxcala would have the third light train in the country. Since the first was in Mexico City and the second in Guadalajara.
Puebla-Tlaxcala Light Train will unite 19 metropolitan municipalities
And although the metropolitan area of both entities includes 39 entities, the Puebla-Tlaxcala Metropolitan Light Train would only occupy 19 of these demarcations, thus benefiting 2.27 million people, who travel for work and study reasons.
Within the project, it was stated that 34.3% of the people who travel between both entities are dissatisfied with the current public transportation service.
Among the municipalities benefiting from the new Puebla-Tlaxcala Metropolitan Light Train will be: Amozoc, Coronango, Cuautlancingo, Chiahuatzingo, Huejotzingo, Ocoyucan, Puebla, San Pedro Cholula, Juan C. Bonilla, San Andrés Cholula, San Martín Texmelucan, Mazatecochco de José María Morelos, Acuamanala de Miguel Hidalgo, San Pablo del Monte, Tenancingo, to mention the majority.
Characteristics of the Puebla-Tlaxcala Light Train
A 35-meter-long Light Train with six to eight axles will pass through them, which will have the capacity to circulate at speeds of between 70 and 80 kilometers per hour.
The project is considered a priority, but not urgent, so it is estimated to be ready within three or even eight years. So time runs out.
