As it explains computer today, this new console, which will be released at the end of the year, has gone unnoticed by many fans due to its focus on streaming. However, PlayStation fans are very excited about this new product.
The initial announcement of Project Q surprised many in May, as it is a portable console that does not play games locally, but rather streams games from the PlayStation 5 console. Essentially, acts as an extension of the PS5, allowing users to play home console titles on the go.
Project Q’s design is more akin to a controller with a screen, similar to the concept of the Nintendo Wii-U, rather than being a direct competition to the Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck. Although it has a DualSense controller integrated with haptic motors, the lack of the ability to play locally has raised questions about its appeal to gamers.
The leaked video

However, The most striking thing is that the operating system that powers the console is Android. This suggests that the console will use Android-based apps and services to deliver the PS5 game streaming experience.
The 8-inch touch screen allows navigation with both fingers and the buttons of the DualSense controller. Although the video does not show games in action due to the focus on streaming, PS5 games are expected to be played on Project Q via the connection to the main console.
For now, there are still many unanswered questions about Project Q. It is unknown if the console will be portable only at home or can be used on the go, will require a constant Wi-Fi connection, and will support cloud gaming, although the latter option seems likely.
Sony has claimed that Project Q will cost “less than $300”, but we will have to wait for future official announcements to get more details about this new portable console. With its launch scheduled for the end of the year, it is likely that the Japanese company will reveal more information about its specifications and functionalities in the coming weeks.
