We already knew that Amy Jo Johnson, the original pink Power Ranger will not appear in the franchise’s 30th anniversary special power Rangers. At first it was believed that this was due to a salary disagreement, but Johnson herself denied that information. Now, we have new details of his absence in the special prepared by Hasbro and Netflix.

After the public believed that Amy Jo Johnson’s absence was due to an unsatisfactory salary offer, she posted via her Twitter the following:
“Please stop saying that I didn’t do the meeting for money. It’s just not true. Maybe I just didn’t want to wear spandex in my 50s or couldn’t go to New Zealand for a month. In interview with VarietyJohnson offers a more detailed explanation of Why did you decide not to be part of it?The Power Rangers Special:
“There were many different factors that came into play. One of them [fue] I was working on other projects, and I also have a 14-year-old daughter…I stopped acting and shifted my focus to writing [y] directing for almost 10 years. I can give you a list of excuses,” Johnson said.
A very special project
And boy are those other projects you talk about will excite Power Rangers fans. In the same exclusive with Varietythe ex-Power Ranger confirmed that she will publish a comic book series in conjunction with Boom Studios. The series will be out next year and it’s an effort Johnson has been working on since the pandemic kicked off in 2020.
“I was daydreaming about it and mentioned it to my boyfriend, Matt. He said, ‘Why don’t you try writing it in comic form?’ We had a lot of time on our hands, so we imagined the entire series of comics knowing that the 30th anniversary was approaching, ”says the now director.
He also mentioned in the exclusive that it was very hard to keep the secret for so many years and promises that we will see something different from the original series since now it will be “his version”.
This exciting news adds to the celebrations we’ll see throughout the year for the 30th anniversary of the Power Rangers franchise, including the Netflix special.
