Shadowed by its electric brother, the Taycan, the new Porsche 911 Turbo S (992) arrives to reassure gasoline lovers with a good dose of power, effectiveness, technology and, of course, with the continuity aesthetic to which we got used to.
In a model in which everything changes, without apparently changing anything, it seems impossible for it to surprise its audience. However, with each passing generation, it only increases the desire to own it.
As before, the new 911 Turbo S will be available in a Coupé and Cabriolet version. This last-generation has been on the market for a few months, but it is not complete until the version most persecuted by model lovers does not see the light.
Exterior design of the Porsche 911 Turbo S (992)
Regarding the 911 Carrera y Carrera S and 4S, what is most striking is the width of the tracks: 42 millimeters in front and 10 millimeters behind more. This, with the corresponding increase in width, makes the car appear sportier and more aggressive, as well as the huge 20-inch alloy wheels on the front axle and 21 on the rear.
The rear wing is bigger and lighter than in the rest of the range, with which, according to Porsche, 15% more grip is achieved.
All this, together with the PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) sports suspension, which reduces the height of the body by 10 mm, will make the new Porsche 911 Turbo S (992) one of the most effective cornering sports cars. And best of all: without giving up that day-to-day comfort that you have always boasted of.
On the front, the ventilation openings take center stage. This in order to manage aerodynamics and cooling in the most efficient way. To achieve this, they have dynamic systems that open or close them, depending on the needs, to maximize the vehicle’s dynamism.
Inside
The information that Porsche has provided about the interior of the Turbo S is not much, but we do know that it will have a customizable two-tone aesthetic, in which leather and carbon will be mixed to give it a more sporty look.
The central screen will be 10.9 inches, while the instrument panel will also be digital, although we do not know the exact size. In addition, it adds a sports steering wheel, called GT, and a premium BOSE hi-fi sound system.
For the rest, there will be nothing to object to one of the highest quality interiors that can be found in a sports car, with a level of attention to detail that makes it a pleasure to touch all the controls; very Porsche.
Engine of the Porsche 911 Turbo S (992)
Without a doubt, the most spectacular thing about this new Porsche 911 Turbo S (992) is behind the rear axle, where it hides a whole new six-cylinder gasoline twin-turbo boxer engine with 3.8 liters of displacement.
The power it extracts from this block amounts to 650 hp which, with a maximum torque of 800 Nm, guarantees performance only within the reach of very few supercars: it accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 2.7 seconds and reaches 330 km / h.
If that acceleration figure has left you speechless, wait to read this one: it goes from 0 to 200 km / h in 8.9 seconds. Much of the credit for that fabulous data is due to one of the fastest and most effective automatic gearboxes on the market, the eight-speed PDK, as well as an all-wheel-drive capable of sending 500 Nm of torque to the shaft. front, as needed.
Regarding the price, Porsche has not given data for Spain yet, but the sale price is known in Germany, where the Porsche 911 Turbo S Coupé will be sold with a starting price of 216,396 euros, while the model convertible will amount to 229,962 euros.
