- Polygon to Participate in Disney Accelerator 2022 Business Development Program
- Disney Accelerator seeks to accelerate the growth of innovative companies in the world and this year will be focused on building the future of immersive experiences and specializes in technologies such as augmented reality (AR), non-fungible tokens (NFT) and artificial intelligence characters ( AI).
On July 13 the Walt Disney Company ad that six companies will participate in the ‘Disney Accelerator 2022’, Among them is Polygon, the leading Web3 company.
For those who don’t know, the Disney Accelerator consists of a program business development which has been designed with the aim of accelerate the growth of innovative companies in the world.

This year in particular, the program focuses on “building the future of immersive experiences and specializes in technologies such as augmented reality (AR), non-expendable tokens (NFTs), and artificial intelligence (AI) characters.”
For this year six companies were selected to participate in the program and one of them is Polygon, the Ethereum scaling solution. In fact, Polygon would be the only blockchain platform that was chosenas Polygon CEO Ryan Watt pointed out to his followers on Twitter.
“We are pleased to announce that Polygon has been chosen to be part of the Disney Accelerator Program.“, noted the official account of Polygon – MATIC on Twitter.
Polygon stands out as a blockchain company
Applications for the Disney program began on April 22 and ended on May 13 of this year. Specifically, the participants had to be “growth-stage companies with a vision to make an impact on the future of technology and entertainment”, and although it is unknown if other blockchain companies tried to participate in the program, it turns out that Polygon is the only one of its kind among the participants.
In fact, the other five Disney Accelerator participants are Flickplay, Inworld, Lockerverse, Obsess and Red 6. In particular, Flickplay and Lockerverse are projects focused on Web 3 development.
While Red 6 is an augmented reality company, Obsess is a 3D virtual e-commerce company, and Inworld is a company specialized in creating virtual characters using Artificial Intelligence (AI).
It is for this reason that the CEO of Polygon noted on Twitter that the fact that Polygon has been selected “says a lot about the work that is being done [en Polygon] and where we are headed as a company.
The program starts from now
In the statement, Disney reported that the program would be starting this weekand to do so, participants will receive investment capital, access to a workspace on the Disney campus, as well as support and guidance from Disney mentors.
In this way, This year’s program will conclude with a Demo Day on campus, that is, with the presentation of what the six companies have built together with Disney.
A curious fact is that the Disney Accelerator has existed since 2014 and its objective is simple: to develop technology that allows Disney to continue innovating and providing experiences to its audience.
“Disney will continue to work with companies like those in this year’s Accelerator class to help develop new technologies and narrative canvases with the goal of creating connected experiences across physical, digital and virtual worlds.s,” the statement said.
It will certainly be interesting to see what these six companies will be working on in conjunction with Disney throughout the show and, of course, what they will present during Demo Day.
