The second generation of PS VR is already being prepared right now. This new device would come with great improvements over its original version, and we have made an article telling you everything you should know about the PSVR2. Today, however, the news is different, and that is that some rumors have confirmed that PSVR 2 will have backward compatibility with the titles of the first generation of the Sony Virtual Reality headset.
This has been rumored by user TheNexus in ResetEra. According to one of the comments on the forum, PS VR2 would arrive with backward compatibility for all PS VR titles. This news is surprising, given that some time ago we saw how the opposite was assured, making us believe that the second generation of the helmet would be compatible only with titles developed for it. On the other hand, Reddit user MrYK_13 comments that this could be the reason why Sony has been offering all VR games in the November PS Plus games.
Of course at this moment this news is just a rumor. Although the user has credibility within the ResetEra forums and is verified, we urge you to take the rumor with a grain of salt. Mind you, it would be quite logical for the original PS VR titles to work on PS VR2, but we will finally have to see everything that Sony has prepared with the helmet to draw our own conclusions.
The PSVR2 seems to point its arrival to the Christmas period of 2022, with Sony «aiming to launch the successor in the next year period«. However, it is a tentative date, and given the absence of units that still exist with the PS5 and its shortage, it is very likely that this date could end up changing for some other time.
